Swords Into Plowshares Gallery and Peace Center

The Swords Into Plowshares Gallery and Peace Center is Southeast Michigan's unique location for peace and justice related art exhibits as well as a location for a number of peace-related events. The Gallery also has a gift shop featuring books, cards and artwork that can be purchased.

The Gallery is open 12 noon to 5pm on Thursdays and Saturdays. Also, please note that the Gallery may be closed during periods during the summer so calling ahead is encouraged to confirm the gallery is open.

Current & Upcoming Gallery Exhibits & Events...

September 27th to November 1st, 2014
This event brings together a mix of local artists whose work celebrates the City of Detroit. Held in conjunction with Hands4Detroit. This invitational show shares a positive light on the City and it’s people. Visitors to the exhibit are asked to bring non-perishable food donations to reduce hunger in the City of Detroit.
Gallery hours:  Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5pm

Through Our Eyes Photo Exhibit
An exhibit of photos taken by formerly homeless residents of the Neighborhood Services Organization Bell building as part of the PhotoVoice research project. PhotoVoice uses participatory photography to empower people to understand and express themselves.

Donations to the Gallery and Peace Center are always needed and appreciated. Donations can be sent to the Swords Into Plowshares Center, 33 East Adams, Detroit, MI 48226.
Treasure Sale Donations To Support The Gallery
The Gallery’s annual Treasure Sale is coming up soon and we've begun accepting donations. As in the past, we do not want clothing, foods, large appliances or furniture. Jewelry (esp. Tiffany) books, kitchen and table ware, decorative items, art, seasonal decorations, tools, pottery.........

You can drop them off during Gallery hours (Thursday and Saturday, noon until 5pm) or any other time that we are here. If you'll be coming at a time that is NOT gallery hours, please call (313-963-7575) beforehand to make sure we'll be here. Thanks for your donation and for supporting the Peace Center
